“Memories of Sarajevo” is a digital painting from 2017 that incorporates traditional and digital art techniques to create an image that evokes the artists lived experiences of living in the besieged city during the Yugoslavian Wars of Independence. The piece deals with Sarajevo’s history of war in the city invoking the imagery of Bascarsija which was built upon the formation of the city in the 15th century.

The work was technically archived by creating 3D assets to render and light the scene with basic materials. This base is then hand-painted with a digital drawing tablet and a combination of PainterX and Photoshop.
